It was in the fall of 2015 that the sequined beard made its appearance in a video posted on the YouTube channel » Gay Beards » also known as Brian DeLaurenti and Johnathan Dahl, who show an inexhaustible creative sense to adorn their beards with all kinds. Since then, the sparkly beard has been popular for parties! We guarantee you, the sequined beard isn’t really the most discreet thing. For the office, we forgot about that for sure… But we have to admit that for Christmas and New Years, it’s the perfect look! And whether you have a hipster beard, a three-day growth, a mustache or even a bit of a teenager, any man can dare with sequins!
So how do you put shine on your beard?
You’ll see, for your beard to shine with a thousand lights, it’s not very complicated!
What you will need for your glitter beard…
To sport a beautiful sequined beard, you will need:
- a beard oil
- an eye pencil
- Cosmetic glue (or styling gel)
- Fixative lacquer
- And of course… shine!!!!
beforehand
Before decorating your goatee, we start with a little cleaning with your usual cleanser or exfoliating soap to remove dead skin and impurities embedded between the hairs. Then dry your beard well.
The making of the sequin beard.
Step 1
To start, apply beard oil evenly throughout the beard and gently massage to adhere the shine to the beard. If you don’t have a special beard oil, you can absolutely use a hidden vegetable oil in your cupboards, like olive oil or argan oil.
Step 2
Get a colored pencil for the eyes (a color similar to the glitter), to fill in the gaps in your beard. If you don’t have one and can’t steal one from those around you, you can easily find one at any supermarket in the radius. makeup . Choose it with a rather greasy lead if possible so that it glides better on the skin.
Step 3
Then spread the glue (or styling gel) evenly over the beard. If you don’t have one, you can always use a school glue stick, but avoid it if you have sensitive skin…
We tell you that this step is optional. Theoretically, the glitter should stick pretty well to the hair with the beard oil. But if you don’t want to run the risk of losing your sequins overnight, it is recommended to use glue to reinforce the fixation.
Stage 4
That’s it, time to blast the glitter! This is the most delicate step. Don’t forget that the goal is to shine your beard and not to redo the tapestry! So it’s best to do it in the bathroom by standing high above the sink to catch the falling glitter that will fly in all directions. To make it easier to clean up stray sequins, you can also bring a sink to install under your beard.
Once placed correctly, sprinkle the glitter on your beard until you get an even result. Leave on for two minutes and gently shake beard to remove excess shine.
step 5
Last step, to spruce up your artwork, put a heavy coat of hairspray on your beard!
For the bearded ones, you can even decorate the whole thing with little Christmas balls with beard clips that you can easily order online!
And after the party, how do you take off your glitter beard?
Undressing your beard from its evening dress, don’t worry, it’s not very complicated! Simply clean your beard thoroughly with a good beard cleansing shampoo or gel, vigorously scrubbing with a brush to remove shine. You will probably need to shampoo several times to get rid of all the shine. That is why it is advisable to apply a good nourishing oil after cleansing to soothe the skin.
And there you have it! You have all the keys to shine with a thousand lights in these end of the year celebrations and perhaps even shade the tree…
